the model

Two ways to sell a CPU. We picked the boring one.

Most hosts sell burst CPU. Your server shares a pool of cores with every other server on the machine, and you get extra speed only when nobody else is using it. That’s great on a quiet Tuesday and rough on a busy Saturday, because your performance depends on how honestly the host manages everyone else’s servers.

We reserve your CPU instead. The top speed is the same either way; it’s the same fast chip. What changes is the worst case. When another server spikes, say a player flying into fresh terrain and generating chunks, that spike lands on their core, not yours. Your TPS doesn’t care what the neighbors are doing.

Steady performance is the whole product. It’s also the expensive part, because a core we reserve for you can never be sold twice. That’s why it can’t cost the same as a slice of a shared pool.

Nearly every host runs the same open-source panel and sells the same $10 marketplace extensions back to you as “features.” gummysnacks is built from the ground up for this hosting: the panel, the agent on your machine, and the in-game companion are all ours, built and tested for your game and integrated with the infrastructure underneath it.

A real console, not a log tail

Type a command and it just runs. The console is a live connection straight to your server: output streams in instantly, and tab-completion works for commands and even online player names, the same as sitting at the server itself.

You’re paying for a reserved core, not a bigger one.

Minecraft’s speed limit is single-core speed, and it’s the same whether the core is reserved or shared. The difference shows up on busy nights: on burst hosts everyone spikes at once, the cores get divided up, and TPS drops right when you have the most players online. On a reserved core, that busy night is yours alone. We sell the steady floor, and we make it by reserving real cores instead of selling the same one twice.

“Dedicated” here is specific, and checkable.

Plenty of hosts say “dedicated cores” and mean a rate limit on a shared chip, without telling you whether a “core” is one thread or two. On our 8 GB+ plans it means exactly one thing: a full physical core, both threads, locked to your server, with no other customer ever placed on it. Any benchmarks we publish will show performance under real load, not a single idle score that makes every host look equally good.

The bundle is in the price.

Premium hosts at $5–6/GB commonly bill DDoS tiers, off-site backups, and dedicated IPs on top. Ours are included at $4.50–4.75/GB. That’s how we can be premium and still the value pick within premium: cheaper than budget hosts once you add what you need, and more consistent than any of them because the core is actually yours.

under the hood

How your server actually runs.

Current-generation AMD Ryzen 9 machines (9900X and 9950X), picked for the spec that decides Minecraft tick performance: sustained single-core speed. Here’s what happens on them.

“A whole virtual machine” might sound heavier than the container slot most hosts sell. It isn’t. KVM is hardware virtualization: your server’s instructions run directly on the CPU, not through an emulation layer, so the overhead is next to nothing. What you gain is real. Your VM has its own kernel and its own scheduler, which means another customer’s crash, memory leak, or 3 a.m. meltdown stays inside their machine instead of taking yours down with it. It’s also what makes some of our best features possible at all: Airbag can hotplug emergency RAM into a running server only because there’s a real machine to plug it into.

We don’t run standard, off-the-shelf VM images either. Ours are stripped down to what a game server actually needs, which keeps the VM itself light on RAM and quick to start: even a full cold reboot usually takes under 30 seconds, on the rare day you need one.

the fine print, early

Words we use carefully.

“dedicated core”
Only ever said about 8 GB+ plans, where both threads of a physical core belong to your server and no other customer is ever placed on it. The 4 and 6 GB plans are “a dedicated thread + burst”: never a big shared pool, and never more than one other server on your core.
“no overselling”
Said about RAM, which we commit 1:1 on every plan. On shared-core tiers it does not mean dedicated CPU; that would be the same fuzzy claim we built this product to get away from.
“benchmarks”
If we publish them, they’ll measure how steady TPS stays and how bad the worst ticks get across a busy window, not one run on an empty machine. A single idle score flatters burst hosts and hides the thing we’re actually selling.
“DDoS protection”
Enterprise L3/L4 filtering via Path.net, accurate to what’s actually filtered. Like everything above, it’s written into the SLA at launch, and you can check us yourself.
